At Hybrex Golf our belief is that the most important contributing factor to accuracy is a shaft's torsional stiffness. Our analysis, validated by PGA Tour players, confirms that ultra low-torque shafts like the Helix Tour will help minimize the lateral dispersion of golf shots in two very distinct ways.
The first is the reduction in angular oscillations that occur before impact as the asymmetric weighted head/shaft combo is loaded in the downswing. Low-torque shafts help maintain a higher degree of precision in face orientation at impact, improving accuracy.
The second factor is the amount of angular distortion that occurs during impact. Although it is well understood that the time duration of impact is very short (500 microseconds), the contribution of off-axis rotation during impact is not. In fact, a +/- 1.5o change in dispersion angle results in more than a 12 yard (36 feet) error at 220 yards. (see illustration) |
